Jennifer's Story
In 1991 Jennifer, began making cakes in high school and found that her talent could be used to start her own business even as a student. Wedding and birthday cakes were ordered, made and delivered for the next 7 years. In 1997 she started a family and the cake business was no longer something she could concentrate on full time.
In 1998, she began working part time in the Marketing & Advertising industry. In 2002, Jennifer realized that the best way for her to stay home with her kids and still work was to start a small business working from home. She began her own marketing consultancy from home in 2003 and continued to assist small to medium-sized businesses with their marketing needs until January of 2011.
Early in 2011 Jennifer began feeling very ill and the doctors could not figure out what was wrong. In May 2011, some lab results were discovered that Jennifer had inhaled something toxic and it had gotten into her endocrine system and brain which affected her A-Z thinking and neurological processes. Jennifer could no longer work for others and put in countless hours of mental marketing strategies for other businesses.
During her recovery, she has had to rely on her old skills of being in the kitchen and cake decorating to get her through until things improved.
Earlier this year, Jennifer, wanted to start a cupcake business that offered "great tasting", fun and whimsical cupcake creations in the Naperville area. Sadly, there were none, so Cupcake Whimsy was born in April 2011 as a delivery and catering-only bakery.
What has followed has been a pretty darn good few months that are seeing more customers than she ever anticipated flocking to them for their events, weddings and parties.
Sensing a strong economic upswing in the near future, we are hoping toward Cupcake Whimsy opening as a retail store-front.
Even though we do not have a storefront that still doesn't keep people away. Cupcake Whimsy has been fortunate enough to cater many events and deliver... well... a lot of cupcakes to local customers since we've been in business. We've met lots of great people (and cupcake loving pets, oddly enough), and still love every minute of what we do.
Cupcakes are not a new concept however, it is our goal to introduce you to the ultimate cupcake experience where you can choose from a growing selection of whimsical designs and specialty flavors that you won't find at other bakeries or individual bakers who provide cupcakes. From our signature "MarkieMint" cupcake topped with a heavenly mint cream cheese frosting and Mint chocolate piece to a bold yet fun pizza or cheeseburger cupcake that has just the right balance of "faux" condiments and whimsical ingredients.
Our secret recipes are made from the finest and freshest ingredients and baked made-to-order to ensure every cupcake is perfect. We will work with you to create the perfect cupcake assortment for your event or get-together; no occasion is too big or small for Cupcake Whimsy!
